File your Bangladesh income tax return online by creating an account on Tax DoctorBD, adding your TIN and income documents, selecting a filing package, and letting the system generate your NBR-compliant return. After submission, download your acknowledgement slip and tax certificate directly from your Tax DoctorBD account.
The official e-Return system of the National Board of Revenue is at https://etaxnbr.gov.bd. You can also reach it from the main NBR site (nbr.gov.bd) through the e-services or e-Return links.
Think in three groups of papers:
- 1. Identity and registration - NID card, eTIN certificate, and a biometric-verified mobile number in your name for OTP.
- 2. Income and deduction proofs - salary certificate, bank statements, rent details, TDS certificates, and investment proofs (DPS, savings certificates, insurance, funds etc.).
- 3. Business-related records (if any) - basic accounts, sales and expense summaries, and supporting bills for business or professional income.
Having these ready makes the online form much faster to complete.
Start by adding all your yearly income from employment, rent, business, capital gains, financial assets, and other sources, as defined in the Income Tax Act 2023. Then apply the current tax slabs for your category (male or female/third gender/65+) and the minimum tax rules, and finally adjust for any approved investment rebates. Most people let an online calculator or software like Tax DoctorBD or the NBR tools do this math automatically so the slabs and limits are always up to date.
If you filed through Tax DoctorBD e-return system, log in at taxdoctorbd.com and open the section that shows your tax record or submitted returns; there you can see whether your return is received, processed, and what amounts are recorded as paid.
You get an Electronic Tax Identification Number (eTIN) from NBR’s TIN portal at https://secure.incometax.gov.bd/TINHome. You create a user account with your NID number, mobile number, and basic details, confirm the SMS code, then fill and submit the online form; once the system accepts your data, it issues a 12-digit eTIN certificate you can download.
The NBR e-Return portal uses a username/password tied to your TIN plus mobile verification, and it runs over encrypted HTTPS, which protects your data in transit. Reputable services like We (Tax DoctorBD) add our own security on top, such as bank-level encryption, secure servers in Bangladesh, and secure handling of sensitive tax documents.
NBR can charge late fees and interest on unpaid tax and may treat you as a non-filer under the Income Tax Act 2023. In practice, this can block or delay loans, tenders, some government services, or visa processes where a recent tax certificate is required, and in serious or repeated cases, it can lead to enforcement or legal steps.
The last date for filing the Income Tax Return for the 2026 tax year in Bangladesh is 30 November 2026, which follows the standard annual deadline set for individual taxpayers. Bangladesh normally enforces a strict 30 November cutoff unless the NBR grants an extension.
For male taxpayers, income tax becomes payable when total annual taxable income is more than BDT 3,50,000. For females, third-gender taxpayers, and people aged 65 or above, the tax-free limit is BDT 4,00,000; income above that amount falls into the progressive slabs set by NBR.
Anyone who has an eTIN and earns above the relevant tax-free limit is expected to file an income tax return, even if the final tax payable is small. In real life this covers most salaried workers, business owners, landlords, and professionals, plus many people who need a tax certificate for a loan, tender, or other official purpose.
